Thriving at Competitive Level

Our Squad Triple programme is designed for the club’s most able, committed, and competitive gymnasts. Training three times a week, gymnasts are supported to reach their potential in a structured yet encouraging environment.

Sessions focus on all four pieces of women’s artistic gymnastics; floor, vault, beam, and bars, alongside body preparation, flexibility, and conditioning.

What to Expect

Training is intensive, but always supportive. Gymnasts benefit from:

 - Focused skill development across all apparatus.
 - Advanced routines tailored to ability and age.
 - Strength and conditioning to build the physical base for higher-level skills.
 - Performance preparation; confidence, presentation, and competition readiness.

Opportunities to compete: from local club competitions through to the Yorkshire region and the British Gymnastics Grades system (minimum 7.5 hrs per week).

Entry to Squad Triple is by invitation or trial only.

Pathways & Progression

- Squad Triple training is split into Junior and Senior groups.
- Gymnasts may be talent-spotted within the club or invited following a successful trial.
- Each gymnast is set individual targets to ensure steady, sustainable progress.

Whether they’re working towards regional competitions or aiming for BG Grades, our aim is to help each child grow in confidence, skill, and love for the sport.

These sessions are highly sought after, with a minimum commitment of three sessions per week. For more details, parents are encouraged to get in touch with the club.
Watching my granddaughter grow from her very first forward roll to competing with real confidence has been amazing. The coaches at NLGA have supported her every step of the way, she’s not just learned gymnastics, she’s learned to believe in herself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Gym Squad – Triple programme?
The Gym Squad – Triple is our most advanced training group, designed for gymnasts who show strong ability, commitment, and enthusiasm for the sport. These gymnasts train three times a week and work towards higher-level skills on all four women’s apparatus; floor, vault, bars, and beam. The programme combines structured technical coaching with strength, flexibility, and conditioning work to help each gymnast reach their full potential.
How are gymnasts selected for the Triple Squad?
Entry to the Triple Squad is by invitation only, based on ability, attitude, and readiness to take on more advanced training. Coaches continuously observe gymnasts in class and will invite those who demonstrate excellent technique, focus, and a willingness to learn. Some gymnasts progress from our Double Squad, while others join directly following a successful trial and assessment.
What’s the commitment level for Triple Squad gymnasts?
Gymnasts in the Triple Squad train a minimum of three sessions per week, with total weekly hours depending on age and ability (typically 6–12 hours). Attendance, effort, and consistency are key, as the skills taught at this level require strength, flexibility, and repetition. We also encourage gymnasts to take care of their bodies outside of training through good rest, nutrition, and recovery.
Do Triple Squad gymnasts compete?
Yes, most gymnasts in this group will have opportunities to compete at regional or county level throughout the year. Some will also begin following the British Gymnastics Grades pathway, which provides structured progression through nationally recognised levels. Competition is always introduced at the right time for each gymnast, when they feel confident, capable, and ready to enjoy the experience.
What support do parents and gymnasts receive at this level?
We know that training more frequently can be a big commitment, both for gymnasts and families. That’s why we keep communication open and supportive at every stage. Coaches provide regular feedback, help set realistic goals, and work closely with parents to balance training with school and wellbeing. The Triple Squad is about developing well-rounded athletes, confident, resilient, and proud of what they achieve both in and out of the gym.
