Take Gymnastics to the Next LevelOur Gym Superstars classes are the natural step up from Gym Stars or the perfect entry point for children starting gymnastics a little later. These longer sessions (90 minutes) give gymnasts more time to learn, practise, and refine skills across all the main apparatus. With a mix of beginners and experienced gymnasts, our coaches carefully group children by ability. That way, every gymnast is challenged at the right level, whether they’re learning their first vault or polishing routines for displays. |
What to ExpectEach class blends fun, structure, and progression: - Floor & Vault work to build power, control, and safe landings. - Beam and Bar skills for balance, strength, and coordination. - Flexibility and conditioning, bridges, handstands, press-ups, and more to prepare for advanced moves. - Trampette training to add variety and excitement. Our Development Awards scheme, helping children track progress and celebrate milestones. Coaches focus on safe spotting and encouragement, helping each child build confidence as they try new challenges. |
Skills They’ll BuildOver time, Gym Superstars will learn to: - Perform cartwheels, handstands, walkovers, and vault progressions. - Build strength and body control through conditioning drills. - Develop beam balance, bar swings, and shaping skills. - Work independently, with growing discipline and focus. The aim is to give them a solid foundation for future gymnastics, whether that means moving into our Squad programme or simply enjoying the sport as a fun way to stay fit, make new friends and be a part of team. |
My daughter has absolutely blossomed since joining NLGA. The coaches are so positive and encouraging, she’s more confident, stronger, and completely loves being part of the club.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my child join if they’ve never done gymnastics before?
Yes, absolutely. Gym Superstars is open to children in Year 3 and above, whether they’ve done gymnastics before or not. Our coaches make sure every child starts at the right level and learns the core skills safely. We focus on building strength, coordination, and confidence first, so new gymnasts can settle in quickly and enjoy learning at their own pace.
How do you group children by ability in Superstars classes?
Children are grouped by both age and experience to make sure everyone feels comfortable and challenged. Beginners and more experienced gymnasts often work on similar skills but at different levels of difficulty. Our coaches keep a close eye on progress and adjust the groups as needed, so each child can keep improving at the right pace for them.
What should my child bring to the session?
All they need is a water bottle, comfortable gymnastics clothing (like a leotard, or t-shirt and shorts/leggings), and socks for certain activities. Long hair should be tied back and all jewellery removed before the session for safety. Everything else — including equipment and chalk — is provided by the club.
How does the Development Awards scheme work?
Our Development Awards scheme helps gymnasts see their progress and celebrate success along the way. Each level includes 30 skills across floor, vault, beam, and bars. When a gymnast consistently performs a skill to a good standard, they move on to the next level and can choose to purchase a certificate and rosette to mark their achievement. It’s a great way to recognise effort and keep motivation high.
What’s the difference between Gym Superstars and Gym Squad?
Gym Superstars classes are recreational and are designed to build skills, strength, and enjoyment of gymnastics. Gymnasts who show strong technique, focus, and enthusiasm may later be invited to join a Squad, where training becomes more structured and competition-focused.
In short: Superstars is about developing solid foundations; Squad is about taking those skills to the next level.

From Superstars to SquadsFor gymnasts who want a new challenge, our Gym Squad pathway offers the next step in their journey.
Here, children continue to build on their skills, form stronger friendships, and experience the teamwork and discipline of competitive gymnastics all within the same supportive NLGA environment. |
